Catholic Sisters Week 2021

By Katie Beckmann Mahon, Communications Manager

As February comes to an end, the countdown to Catholic Sisters Week begins.

From March 8th to 14th, Catholic Sisters Week, an annual celebration that highlights Women Religious, their accomplishments, and their influence on society, will be observed worldwide.

Before and during Catholic Sisters Week, the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, will host several virtual events to celebrate the Congregation while unifying Sisters, Associates, other Women Religious, and the local community.

Starting on March 1st, people can support the Tolentine Zeiser Pre-K program, a ministry site of the Sisters of Saint Dominic, by donating children’s masks and cleaning supplies. Donations can be dropped off at the Suso entrance of the Motherhouse and the Tolentine entrance, between March 1st – 12th, during business hours.

On Thursday, March 4th at 3 PM EST, Sr. Terry Rickard will moderate a virtual discussion about “Living Through COVID with Faith & Hope.”

Discussion participants will hear from Sisters Mary Flood, Maggie McDermott, and Mary Eileen O’Brien on how they have used their faith and hope in their ministries to respond to the challenges of the pandemic. To learn more and register for this discussion, click here.

A few days later, our other Catholic Sisters Week virtual conversation will occur on Tuesday, March 9th, at 2 PM EST. This conversation will focus on "How Do We Open Our Hearts To The World" and feature Sr. Barbara McEneany, along with two Dominican Sisters from Sparkill. To learn more and register for this discussion, click here.

The next day, March 10th, we will be hosting a virtual Celtic Tea event from 5 PM - 6 PM EST and will include Irish music from Kevin Cronin, a prayer from Sr. Dorothy Maxwell, as well as our annual Celtic Tea Raffle. To sign up for Celtic Tea updates, click here.

The Sisters of Saint Dominic hope you will join us at one of our Catholic Sisters Week events.
