Catholic Sisters Week 2022

In less than a month, the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, will participate in Catholic Sisters Week, an annual celebration that highlights Women Religious, their accomplishments, and their influence on society, will be observed worldwide.


From March 8th to 14th, the Sisters of Saint Dominic will host several virtual events to celebrate the Congregation while unifying Sisters, Associates, other Women Religious, and the local community.


2022 Community Goods Drive Flyer

Starting on March 7th, the Sisters of Saint Dominic will host a Community Goods Drive to benefit Siena House, a women’s shelter in the Bronx and ministry site of the sisters. To support the women and children of Siena House, you can donate Unscented Baby Wipes, Diapers Sizes 3,4,5, Baby socks, Onesies, Women Sweatshirts, and Sweatpants, Ladies’ socks, and Standard size crib sheets. Donations can be dropped off at the Suso entrance of the Motherhouse, between March 7th – 18th, during business hours.


On Tuesday, March 8th, at 2 PM EST, Catholic Sisters Week 2022 will officially kick off with a virtual discussion with Dominican College Service and Leadership Scholarship students, Darlenys Sanchez and Gee Salim, discussing their experience working at the Motherhouse and getting to know the sisters. A live broadcast of this discussion will take place on Facebook Live, Twitter, and YouTube Live.

The following day, March 9th, Sr. Jo-Anne Faillace, OP, will participate in a special recording of the Hearts Afire Podcast with Sr. Valorie Lordi, OP, of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill at 10 AM EST. A live broadcast of this discussion will take place on Facebook Live, Twitter, and YouTube Live.


During this discussion, Sisters Jo-Anne and Valorie will discuss religious life and their ministries.

During that evening, Sr. BarbaraAnn Sgro, OP, will participate in a #AskASister Live Discussion at 8 PM EST moderated by Sr. Jeanne Shary, OP, of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill. A live broadcast of this discussion will take place on Facebook Live, Twitter, and YouTube Live.


Also participating in the #AskASister Live Discussion, alongside Sr. BarbaraAnn, are Sisters June Fitzgerald, OP, of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, Gloria Agnes Ardenio, MM, of the Maryknoll Sisters of Saint Dominic, and Debbie Blow, OP, of the Dominican Sisters of Hope.

A few days later, on March 14th, we will be hosting a virtual Celtic Tea event from 5 PM - 6 PM EST and will include preaching and musical entertainment from Sr. Peggy Murphy, OP, of the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Amityville, other surprise musical guests, as well as the announcement of our annual Celtic Tea Raffle winners. A live broadcast of the Celtic Tea will take place on Facebook Live, Twitter, and YouTube Live.

Along with these events, New York State Assemblyman Mike Lawler will present a Proclamation for Catholic Sisters Week to the Congregation.
