Pray to Protect Human Life

This week’s “Embracing Faith” article will focus on Embracing Faith through Advocacy.

Embracing Faith Through Advocacy

“Behold, children are a gift of God, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” -Psalm 127:3-5

Pope Saint John Paul II once said, “A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer.” (1)

In 2021, his words are still relevant as we approach the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on Friday, January 22nd.

On the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children, people worldwide will observe the “day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion.”(1)

Along with praying on the Day of Prayer for Legal Protection of Unborn Children, participants can also advocate for this cause by partaking in the 9 Days for Life.

Beginning on Thursday, January 21st, participants will join together in a novena to protect human life, reflect, and discover actions to help build a culture of life. To learn more about the 9 Days for Life, visit www.respectlife.org/9-days-for-life. (2)

Besides the 9 Days of Life, another advocacy opportunity available for those interested in participating is the National Prayer Vigil for Life.

The National Prayer Vigil for Life is an overnight pro-life prayer vigil that will take place remotely on January 28th and end on the morning of January 29th. (2)

During the prayer vigil, participants throughout the nation will come together to pray for a greater respect for all human life in liturgies, rosaries, night prayers, holy hours, prayer vigils, morning prayers, benedictions, and masses. (2)
