A few years ago, a hip new way to consume content called podcasts came into our lives.
While many of us didn’t initially pay much attention to it early on, podcasts continued to grow, and fast forward to 2020; podcasts have become a part of our everyday lives, even more than radio.
Today, if you search for podcasts on a smartphone, tablet, or computer, you can find one on every topic that you can imagine.
Podcasts have grown so popular that in 2014, a worldwide celebration took place that resulted in International Podcast Day.
On Wednesday, September 30th, people worldwide will observe International Podcast Day and celebrate the power of podcasts and connect with fellow podcasters, listeners, enthusiasts, and leaders within the podcasting industry. (1)
The podcasting industry has become immersed in the Women Religious community, as there are several podcasts hosted by nuns, their congregations, and ministries.
In March 2019, the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, hosted a live recording of the popular Ask Sister podcast by A Nun’s Life, as a part of their Motherhouse Road Trip series.
Sisters Jenn Schaaf, OP, and Terry Rickard, OP, participated in the podcast on behalf of the congregation and were interviewed by Sr. Maxine Kollasch, IHM.
In front of a live audience, Sisters Jenn and Terry each shared their inspiring vocation journeys, along with stories about their lives, ministries, and the Blauvelt congregation (as a whole), as well as their thoughts on the immense impact of small-group ministry, prayer workout, vacation vs. retreat, and everyday holiness.
