This week’s “Embracing Faith” article will focus on Embracing Faith through Mindfulness.
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
-Psalm 51:10-11
As 2021 gets underway, so do our efforts to keep our new year resolutions.
Whether it's goals centered around your health, fitness, career, personal life, or career, it is beneficial to keep your resolutions this year.
Having a new year resolution will give you something to look forward to and work towards and provide you with hope and confidence in your abilities to better yourself.
If you are still looking for new year resolution ideas, consider making ones that benefit your spirituality and mindfulness.
Here are three ideas to get you started in your spiritual new year resolution planning.
1. Practice Gratitude and Count Your Blessings: As we shut the door on 2020, which is arguably one of the worst years to date, it is essential to focus on our blessings in 2021. Whether it's gratitude for employment, our loved ones' health, the food on our tables, or our homes, something we should all be grateful for is God's love and mercy for us.
2. Listen and Watch More Spiritual Content: While we all watch a ton of Netflix, listen to podcasts, and enjoy music from Spotify, try incorporating more spiritual podcasts, radios, music, and shows into your day. Some of my favorite spiritual content includes: Busted Halo Podcast, Catholic Stuff You Should Know Podcast, Ask Sister Podcast, and CatholicTV.
3. Pray Everyday. Making prayer a part of your daily routines will not only help you become more centered, but it is an opportunity to strengthen your connection to God. When you take a mental break during the day, fight the urge to scroll through negative social media feeds, and try reading a prayer meditation. You'll be thankful that you did!
